Lunch at The Rice Table 29 March 2005

Having Food therapy for consecuetive 2 days has caused my poor pink crowned wallet to bleed to show a bloody red.

Yesterday was Fish & Co. Today came The Rice Table.

Both are nice, but i think The Rice Table lunch today was more worth it.

Initially, we pondered and "argued"(peacefully) over where we should lunch at, after surviving dreadful EOF, rather pleasent WFM, and to prepare for 4 more wars in a week's time.

During brainstorming, hundreds (exaggerating) of restaurants' names emerged, but 3/4 of them were rejected cuz there weren't halal.

We even thought of petitioning to a lot of present non-halal places to become a halal restaurant so The De'Lites wont have such a headache the next time we search for a place to dine at. Ya, sounds so easy huh...

Through careful planning and convincing dear Rine who at first craved for "ang-moh" food, we decided on The Rice Table. Yeah!

On the way...

Smart (or auntie. you choose...) Rice reserved a table for 6 before the lunch hour came in and automatically, we got the table nearest to the counter. Which meant we could get refills easier. Hahaha...

The food came in one by one, row by row. Soon, the 3 tables were filled with tasty cant-wait-to-eat food, calling out to us.

Hmmmm....

Before....

After...(This does not include refilss..Woah!)

The food was swipe out in no time at all cuz almost every dish was superb. I like the Sambal KangKong, Kebab, Rendang, and Tauhu Telok especially. Hmmm..Just the mere mention of it makes me drool...

And did i mention it's only $15 a person for lunch?

It's supposed to be $12.80++. Adding in the service charge and GST, it's only $15! It reasonable man..Really..

All day, i kept Rine's water-bottle with me. Quite often or not, once she sits down, i'll ask her whether she wants water or not. (Obviously it's to lighten my bag which was originally heavy. I dont know why it's tt heavy when i dont need to bring any stuff for school or whatsoever. Maybe it's just me just dumping everything into a big bag. Maybe i should learn from Rice. To carry a smaller bag so as to force yourself not to dump that many things in there. But then again, Rice's bag is small, but heavy too...Hmmm...).

Anyway, it sounded like the Mummy wanting the kid to drink water constantly and i became the water-bottle-bearing 'Mummy" (or more like 'Maria'), chasing the kid to drink water to hydrate yourself in sunny Singapore. Hahaha...

I saw so many pretty shoes, and i am so so so much tempted to buy, and my heart sort of 'ached'(psychologically) cuz my financial status didnt allow me to.

I made myself promise not to buy any 'luxury' stuff(including stuff like shoes, clothes, accessories, and etc) until i get a job. But looking at the speed i'm going at, i'll probably never be able to buy anything. Urgh..that's extremely heart-aching...*Pounds heart*

We had so much fun shopping that i lost track of time. I was supposed to head for home at 3pm to 'baby-sit' my kiddy brother while my parents head to a dinner, but i only realised the time at 4pm. Fortunately i made it home in time t 5pm.

When Mummy and Daddy left for dinner, the house was all to us.

Home alone.

It was pretty fun, me being the decision maker for everything.

"On air-con"

"Drink cold drinks"

"Watch DVD"

"Time to eat dinner"

After watching the cartoon, 麥 兜 波 羅 油 王 子 (Mai Dou, Bo Luo You Wang Zi), which was in Cantonese because it is a HongKong production, i started speaking to my brother in Cantonese--which he didnt really understand except for the "Are you full?" part.

It was fun making him say "I'm full already" in Cantonese and 'threatening' him if he didnt. No, i didnt torture him...I'm a good sister ok?!?!

Fortunately my brother obeys me rather often and seldom opposes me. I feel that i often "make use" of him without him realising it. But he IS slowly realising it and would gradually stop taking things and running errands for me. Recently, he made a rule for me. That is, he would only run an errand for me a day, no more than 1. Right...

So the moral of the story is, "Do what you can while you still can."

Hahaha...

After Stressful EOF CA3....

EOF CA today was really stressful (for me). I almost screamed when the paper was presented in front me. What the Hell??? So many questions look foreign, Urgh~

We stared at each other. Neither the question paper nor I recognised each other.

"I dont know you"

"Ya, i dont know you either. What are you doing here?"

And so in the one whole freaking hour, we spent time trying to understand each other, or rather me desperately making an effort to understand the paper. At the end of the critical hour, we still didnt know each other well. Our relationship can only be described as acquaintances, and that's supposed to be sad.

Well, i cant say i'm upset, cuz i didnt put enough effort studying. Neither can i say i'm guilty, cuz i did tried pretty hard to squeeze in the facts into my mind from saturday to sunday.

Urgh, forget it. No point crying over spilled milk.

Next up, WFM CA4...

Haha...

Anyway, after dreadful EOF, the five of us decided to pamper ourselves by having lunch at Fish & Co. (Yes, again. We seem to pamper ourselves pretty much..Haha..)

The rest of us all ordered Seafood platter..

Seafood platter for one..

Seafood platter for two...(additional mussels!)

And Nineh's Fish & Chips!

Yay!~

In the middle of enjoying our meals while gossiping, we saw some camera crew at work and got curious. There there, Fiona Xie and Jeff Wang, filming for their new show to be broadcasted on Channel U. And my, her....eyes, were ehem...Yup. Jeff Wang's hair was...woah! And Huang BiRen looks elegant...

Geez...

Alright alright! Study! Like, Now!

The end of another semester..

This semester passed especially fast, and i think it's got to do with the adjusting of our academic time-table, shifting everything forward. The start of school in Dec isn't a good idea cuz people like me can't focus on studies in Dec where it's suposed to be a holiday, which explains for my results.

However, DMC/2B/05 isn't the same again. Like i once said, once the bowl breaks, even if you try to mend it, there'll always be a crack. And it doenst help that misunderstadings arise from miscommunication. And we're from Media and Communication. Geez...

But as long as the water is calm (ignoring the fact that there's this saying, "Beneath the calm waters lukes danger"), and all seems well, it should be well. Peace! ^U^ \/

Anyway, the De'Lites never fail to bring joy, fun, and laughter. We can always count on Nity to come up with lame jokes, Carine to laugh it all out, Clarice to do funny stuff, Nina to bring suggestive thoughts, Winoa to scream, and me to always listen.

Cheers!~

-----------------------------------

Today was my turn to direct my talk show. Rice was Tan Kheng Hua and she demonstrated how she would prepare herself to cry during filming and herself in PCK Private Limited, awesome one, lady! Nity was my host and i can say she's born to be a TV host man, she's such a natural. Rine was my audio mixer and Win was my vision mixer, you both rox!. Nina was my floor manager who enjoys mopping floors (resident professional floor manager ;D) and not forgetting the resident cameramen, Gavin and Desmond.

To my crew: Big Thank You!!!~~~~ Cheers People!~

-----------------------------------

When DVPA lesson was over, we took the chance to take some photos...

Rice as multi-talented artise who knows how to rap, sing ballad, techno, trance, and yah, opera. (The window almost broke..Haha..jk...) But it was so entertaining thta i burst out laughing in the control suite, softly of course, i couldnt possibly laugh loudly could I?

Nity as youthful talk show host

And they "Relac One Corner"...

Which then reminds me of Des's joke...
[You can ask a group of pple to go into a rounded room and ask them to 'relac one corner'!"]

Like..duh...there's no corner so they cant 'relac one corner'. Hahaha..talk about being lame...

Miss Nga with us...

It was really fun...

----------------------------------

In conclusion, time flies...

Now it has come to the actual realization that time is actually extremely precious.

Treasure time, treasure them.

Cheers! To our withstanding friendship...The De'Lites!~

Ni, Neh, Rine, Rice, Ching

And this is my Vanilla Cornetto at only $1. Promotional Price! Hurry! While stocks lasts!

Yes, with Ice-cream, we cheered. And Ni and Neh did such funny things that i almost spit my ice-cream.

Finally we got down to work. Miss "I-wan-to-go-bak-to-Pilipine" claims that she is beginning to enjoy generating graphs!

Actually, i think it's the company that matters. With us jokers, how can there not be fun? Hahahaha...So we say la...

Although all projects for this semester are finally painstakingly done and our reports in, and we can finally heave a little sigh of relieve, i have to remind that there are still outstanding CAs approaching like directorship, EOF (dread..), and WFM.

Well, well...let's just face life as it is and not whine shall we? Cuz whinning does not only make matters SEEM worse but also diminish the drive.

Add oil Add oil Add oil! (Jia You X 3)

Like a ghost...

Like a Ghost...

Once, a friend told me i was like a ghost. When i drifted into class, they didnt notice until reccess. When i disappeared, they once again didn't notice until they had something to say to me.

I often drift in and drift away quiely, so much so that with or without my presence doesnt make much of a difference. Haha...

Hmmm...

I think i like to do things quietly. Such that when i enter a room, i'll drift off to my seat(if there is), or hide in some quiet corner. So...i'm those kind who will look at everyone having fun, and have a drink in the corner myself cuz i dont like to be in the limelight for certain things.

Even when i'm getting to know new friends, i will say "Hi", then drift off to a corner and shut up for the whole day.

Another friend said i had a golden mouth--meaning i dont talk much because i'm afraid that once i open my mouth, gold will drop out of my mouth.

Even in lectures or classes, i dont like the idea of talking. When people talk in class during lesson time, i'll be irritated by the noise. Of course, a few sentences, jokes, or questions are alright. But talking throughout class or lecture is too much. Cuz i think that it is not only disturbing, but also disrespectful.

Hmmm...

Anyway.....

Til Then Folks..ChEeRs!~ :\

An analysis and dinner session with Ms Kwa

After the crazy hours of rushing, Clarice and I simply broke into laughter and we found that we couldn't stop ourselves from laughing. We just kept laughing, and laughing.

Man..i think we lost it at that moment. Finally, it's completed. Hi^5!

Crazy rushes are scary, and our decisiveness took over, cutting all tails, chopping and chopping.

Thank goodness it's done..

So, we decided to pamper ourselves with something nice...dinner at Pizza Hut!~ Yeah!~

We tried the new double-flavour pizza and in the end, we tried 4 flavours at one go..It's a pretty good idea cuz i had always thought of this 2 flavours in a pizza thing. Haha.. Crazy ideas have always pop up in my mind, like how to improve my shoe which gives me blisters, how to improvise my bag so tt it doesnt look plain, how to mend my sweater and not give it a "stitched" look..etc..

Geez...

It's a tiring but fulfilling day cuz we actually did so many things in a day despite our 9 to 5 time-table.

And there's WFM and MPP yet to be completed..

Go, go , go!~

Til then folks..ChEeRs!~ ;)

My Maid....

"Daryl(not his real name), go home already," the maid gently asked as she approached the kid.

"WAIT!" the kid shouted, anxious to carry on his game of badminton.

Little dramas happen all around me when i walk home. All kinds of scenarios, and this is one of the most common.

Most of the people take it for granted that since they pay so much for a maid, the maid is obliged to slog for them. True, the maid should work hard for the money, but have they thought of how it feels to be so far away from home, has no freedom to call her own, and worse of all, serve a mean employer and his/her mean family members?

Of course, we're talking about the norm. There are still a lot of employers who treat their maids well and the maids in turn work for them for very long terms. And not forgetting maids eho dont bother and render poor service and are totally dishonest.

But let's focus on those who deserve the concern shall we?

A good example would be my aunt's maid, who has worked for them for 10 years already, since my cousin was juz 2 year old til now. Another example would be my previous maid. Being our first and last maid, she left us wonderful memories. Of course there were times when my mum flared when her work wasnt satisfactory, but my family, especially my brother who was a baby then, became very attached to her.

"Ah Ca" was what my brother called her because being toothless, he couldnt pronounce the words properly.

When my mum decided to stay home to personally take care of our needs, the maid had to go. We knew 2 months before her contract expired that we wouldnt renew her contract. However, Marica did not slack. She still did her job as well.

The day finally came, like a chinese saying suggests, there is no banquet in this world that wouldnt end. How true. That morning, my dad booked a cab for her.

Off she went, in search of her happiness in Phillipines.

All of us cried...even my dad...

Even as i think of her now, i still miss her a lot.

I miss her pumpkin dish.

I miss her massage.(it's superb!)

I miss how she took care of us.

I miss the late-night chats with her.

I miss her...

The whole family had been so close to her. But upon knowing she's got herself a good employer with higher pay in HongKong through her aunt, we were happy for her.

Although i know she wouldnt be able to receive this blessing of mine, i still want wish her all the best in every aspect of her life.

Good luck!~ Miss ya!~

Ooh, by the way, my mum just asked my bro to call my dad. And guess what my bro said when my mum got impatient?

"If you want people to do things for you, be patient"

Hmmm...i'm impressed..

Anyway, gotta rush through EOF, MLE, and WFM.....

Til Then Folks..ChEeRs!~ ;)

Swimming..13 March 2005

It seemed like years since i last swam.

If i'm not wrong, it has been months...Woah..

Today, V3 finally had the chance to swim cuz there were always 'obstacles' stopping us from swimming. I agreed although there were so many assignments to clear, probably it's because of the load that getting out of home is a avenue to escape from it all for just a while.

We agreed to meet at 930am, but Cher and I only reached at 10am. Haha..So typical of us to be late..Geez..

And i think there's this telepathy between us that all 3 of us wore caps even though the sun wasnt scorching. ;)

Besides sun-tanning and getting myself burnt, i finally learnt how to stay above the waters when you're not swimming, and swimming while staying afloat. Hmmm..i dont exactly know how to explain, but ya, V2 knows what i mean..

Once i got home, i fell asleep. Great, now i'll have to make it up.

Haha..

The somehow i came across this blog which this couple maintain and talk to each other. It's SO SWEET! Each day, they write to each other in the blog, mentioning how they pass through each day and how thye miss each other. It's so sweet that i think i'm getting tooth decay...

Til then folks..ChEeRs!!~ (even thou there nothing much to be happy abt when projects and assignments are hounding you...) ;\

The Brain Test

Having scavaging and hunting for it for months, i'm glad to announce i've finally found it?

Yes i've found my ideal earring rack!

Haha..What were you thinking?

I believe a lot us have tons of earrings but e simply put it in drawers of in a box, and the earrings often get tangled or one lost. And when the it's out of sight, it'll be out of mind. Soon, you'll even forget you own such a pair.

Unwiling to let it go on, i went on a massive(alright, exaggerating..) hunt for an 'idea' earring rack which is portable, highly useful, spacious, and of course, Cheap.

Yesterday at the Cash Coverters store, this rack called out to my mum and my mum resentd it to me.

"Ching, see this rack. $4 only."

Immeditely, i knew this is the rack i've been looking for.

Now, it's happily sitting at home, full earrings decorated on it, something like a squarish X'mas tree.

Moral of the story: If it's meant to be yours, it'll come to you one day. Haha..

Anyway, out ofboredom from calculating financial ratios, i did this test...

The Brain Test

What Your Brain Says About How You Think and Learn

Fiona, you are Balanced-brained

That means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain, depending upon a given situation.

When you need to explain a complicated process to someone, or plan a detailed vacation, the left hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for your ability to solve problems logically, might kick in. But if you were critiquing an art opening or coming up with an original way to file papers, the right side of your brain, which is responsible for noticing subtle details in things, might take over.

While many people have clearly dominant left- or right-brained tendencies, you are able to draw on skills from both hemispheres of your brain. This rare combination makes you a very creative and flexible thinker.

The down side to being balanced-brained is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways.

Hmmm..Hopefully its right, not just some hoax telling everyone the same ting...Hmmm...

Geez...

Til Then Folks..ChEeRs!~ ;)

The Brainteaser Test

According to a Tickle.com quiz, The BrianTeaser Test, i got....

The Brainteaser Test

Are You A Mastermind?
Fiona, you answered 18 out of 30 questions correctly!

Congratulations! Your score is in the 78th percentile. This means that if one hundred people took the test with you, your score would rank higher than 77 of them on average.

When we analyzed your test, we also discovered that when it comes to logical ability, you measure in the 91st percentile. This score indicates you have unusually strong abilities when it comes to to solving problems with logic. There are situations that require having a very precise thinking process to cut through the array of stimuli, and you can do this well. You can easily detect the underlying logic while others cannot. While others may get confused by things that are complex or out of order, your logical ability allows you to persevere and solve multi-layered problems.

Haha...Nothing better to do in WFM anyway..Hahahahaha....

Day of filming with Channel U crew...9 March 2005

It was a tiring day, but the experience earned was worth it all.

The producer was a rather nice lady and the crew was pretty friendly and funny too.

In fact, we weren't the ones who were tired out, the crew were. We "change shifts" whenever one of us got one interviewee, but the producer and crew had practically no chance to rest except that the camera-man put down the 7 kg camera once in a while to allow his poor shoulders a break.

A lot of people shun us as if we were insect repellents and they were insects when we stood an stared at the escalator, looking out for potential 'preys'.

So there comes the skill of running and stopping people in their steps and emphasising and re-emphasising that there are ONLY 3 QUESTIONS!

Some of them were corporative and stopped for the interview.

Time flew....the sky grew dark and when we finally got enough people to express their comments, "AND IT'S A WRAP!"

Before we left, how could we not take something memorable?
So...Cheese!~

To stop our stomachs form further growling, we rushed to Long John's and made our stomachs happy.

Didn't mummy tell you not to play with your cutlery?

Ooh..yes...

Rice thinking seriously...

"What?", Nina exclaimed.

Hee..yes yes, it's me...Any problem with that? Haha...

And then...these girls just had to do something funny...
3 angles for you...

Haha...

Celebrate Lipeng's Birthday...(8 March 2005)

After school, all of us rushed to Jurong Point to celebrate Lipeng's birthday with her.

When i reached the 'Kopitiam' to meet Yutang, i realised Shaolu was there wiht Yutang too. Apparently, tang had reached JP at like 4:30pm when we agreed to meet at 5:30pm, so she got really bored and fortunately she met SL and so they embarked on their adventure trip around JP together. Ya right.

Being a not very punctual person, i reached 'Kopitiam' at 533pm. (Hey, considered very good ok?) after getting the present for LP form home.

Here's a look at the present: A white-dog hp chain with a hp pouch that i personally sewed on "LP" for her. It might not be profesional but it's the thoughts that counts right? ;)

And since pictures speak a thousand words, i shall not fight with the pictures by writing anymore or i'll have to write millions to exchange for the pictures (what crap? I'm getting lamer day by day. Thanks to who? Hmmm...i think the answer is pretty obvious. Haha...BQ!).

"Yummy!~"

"Urgh..must pry the prawns apart!"

"Haha, finally. Told you cant escape from my clutches!"

"Cant wait to swallow my Peri Peri prawns meal. Eh, faster lah, take photo so long!"

Til Then folks..ChEeRs!~
